One of a series of paintings from a body of work I am currently working on in which I explore the Australian bush in abstract form. " Regeneration " is about bushfire and its effect not only on the landscape but on the human psyche. In this painting I see the bush through its negative spaces, using colour to express the destruction of fire but ultimately the new growth that follows it. " Regeneration " is a painting about positivity and hope after bushfire. The full body of work presently titiled " The bush paintings" explore aspects of the Australian bush not only in its physicality but also the psychological affect this particular landscape can have as I explore such themes as solitude, fear, facing the unknown and destruction.
